Religious and Moral Education

This book is designed to provide a clear understanding of the link between religion, morality and education. It, therefore, provides two broad sections. The first part deals with foundational content focused comprising definitions, the big question on religious education in the education system, the historical development of religious education with special reference to Kenyan’s education dynamics, and the religious and moral growth and development within the philosophical framework for learners in school. The second part of the book introduces the planning for instruction from a professional point of view. It provides perspectives for holistic nurturing of a hands-on, knowledgeable well-grounded teacher of religious education in professional documentation, classroom management, and identification of modern methodological approaches for religious education teachers.

Stanley Ngome Mutsotso is currently an Associate Professor of Educational Communication and Technology at Kibabii University, Bungoma, Kenya where he has served as Dean of Faculty of Education and currently serving as Dean of Graduate School since October 2015. Since 2018 he has served as the Organizing Secretary for the Western Community Health Association (WECOHAS). He is also the Organizing Secretary for the Elgon Victoria Research and Development Consortium (Elgovic).

Currently, he is serving as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academics and Students Affairs in an acting capacity at Kibabii University. He teaches in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy. He is also the Chairman of the Institutional Ethics Review Committee having been trained by the National Commission for Science Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) in 2021 as an Ethics Evaluator. He holds a Bachelor of Education Arts (Hons), MPhil (Ed). DPhil in Education Communication and Technology, Moi University. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and supervised Postgraduate students. He has also mentored many young scholars including masters and doctoral students. Currently, he is quite active in writing fundable research proposals and is a member of the University research crack team.
