Although death is as old as human history, its effects have never been enjoyed. Every time it occurs it causes anguish to an individual and society. Sometimes, out of the gap caused by a loss of a loved one, some individuals may need the support of others. Death affects students’ psychological wellbeing because most of them have not developed adequate coping strategies to support them any time they are in grief. They spend most of their time at school and therefore, may need emotional support from teacher-counsellors. This book will be useful to teachers in general and teacher-counsellors in particular. Scholars in universities and tertiary institutions will also find this book valuable. Specialists in grief counselling, church leaders and educationists of all walks of life will find this book handy. The aspect of grief counselling has been simplified in this book by discussing various competences in a logical, simple and clear style.

Dr. Zacharia Ondieki Mokua is a seasoned educationist. He has served as a senior principal of Amabuko and Gesiaga High schools. Currently, he is in his final stage in his second Doctorate specializing in History at Kisii University. He holds a PhD in Counselling Psychology from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Master of Education with a bias in counselling from Kenyatta University, Master of Arts in History from Kisii University, Bachelor of Education (Arts) from Moi University, Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the University of Nairobi and a Certificate in Theology from KIMA International School of Theology (Ibeno Campus). He has authored and co-authored articles in local and international journals. He has supervised both Masters and PhD students. He has also been an external examiner of Masters and PhD students in various universities. He has attended and made presentations in leadership seminars and workshops. He is a lead wellbeing counsellor in youth and adult issues.
