This book provides the history of curriculum development, curriculum context, the process of curriculum development, curriculum design, curriculum implementation, curriculum evaluation and curriculum change & innovation. It also discusses competency-based curriculum, gender & curriculum development and policies in education.

 

Ruth Otunga holds a PhD (Curriculum Studies) and delivered an inaugural lecture on The Dilemma of Curriculum Relevance in Kenya. She has served in university management positions, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Students’ Affairs). A co-author for Foundations of Adult Education in Africa (2005), A Handbook for Curriculum & Instruction (2011), Dynamism in Curriculum & Instruction (2015), and authored Little Seeds of Resilience: An Autobiography (2015). An author and co-author of refereed journal articles and chapters on education, entrepreneurship and gender. The principal editor for this text and wrote chapters 1, 2 & 7 and contributed to chapters 5, 8 & 9.

Jafred Muyaka holds a PhD (Comparative Education). He lectures in Educational Foundations. He is a co-author of Complexity of Masculinity in Africa (2020) and co-editor of Handbook of Research on Distance Education in Ghana (2022). He has authored and co-authored articles in refereed journals and book chapters on education and gender. He is an associate editor for this book, wrote chapters 9 & 10 and contributed to chapters 1, 2 & 4.

Joseph Mubichakani has a PhD (Educational Technology). He lectures and has served as an examination coordinator and assistant Dean of Students. He was previously a high school teacher. He has authored and co-authored scholarly journal articles on education, gender and cultural issues. He wrote chapters 5 & 6 and contributed to chapter 4.

Jaluo Murunga has a PhD (Early Childhood Education) and is a lecturer. He previously was a primary school teacher, an Education Officer and a tutor at a teacher training college. He is a Trainer of Trainers (ToTs) in CBC and has published in education, culture and gender. He wrote chapters 3 & 8 and contributed to chapters 2, 5 & 6.

Emoit Omuse holds a PhD (Curriculum Studies) and is a lecturer. Before joining university service, he was a high school teacher. He is involved in supervising curriculum development and mentorship programmes at the University. He has published in refereed journals on education and gender. He wrote chapters 4 & 6 and contributed to chapters 3 & 8.

Jacob Natade holds a PhD (Curriculum & Instruction) and is a lecturer. He is a supervisor and examiner for graduate students. He has published on research, education and politics. He has served in university management positions and as a curriculum expert. He is a co-founder of Bishop Mahon Teachers’ College, Turkana County. He wrote chapters 3 & 8 and contributed to chapters 1 & 4.

Alice Yungungu holds a PhD (Curriculum Studies) and is a Senior Lecturer who previously taught in high schools. She supervises and examines postgraduate students. She has authored and co-authored several books, book chapters and articles in refereed journals. She is visually challenged but a great mentor to university students. She wrote chapters 5 & 7 and contributed to chapters 4 & 8.
