The book enables the teachers to have a sound knowledge of the instructional language in spoken form and be able to transfer that knowledge to the learners. It enables the teachers interpret the syllabus content and prepare schemes of work and lesson plans with clear achievable objectives. The book explores the competencies needed for effective writing. It offers the insights and the skills of handling English compositions as well as tackling comprehension questions. The book offers useful guidelines in the criteria used in marking English compositions. It contains a variety of English composition practice exercises.

Sammy Tegut trained in Eregi TTC and obtained a P1 Certificate. Thereafter, he went for further studies at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) and graduated with a B.Ed. (Hons) degree in English and Literature. He then proceeded on to Moi University and graduated with a Masters degree in Curriculum Development. His teaching experience spans over a period of 30 years. He has taught in varoius schools at different levels of education which include: Primary, Secondary and Primary Teacher Training Colleges. He has a wealth of experience and professional achievements that include being a national examiner in KCPE, KCSE and PTE English exams; a motivational speaker in various educational institutions; and a facilitator in many workshops for primary school teachers of Eglish. Currently, Mr. Tegut is engaged in offering educational/ mentorship services at his firm – Tumaini Educational Promoters – based in Kabarnet Town.
